Unhappy Moving Battery Gauge

Just replaced battery in car a week ago. Notice that at a cold start, still hesitant, before turning over. After second start, it's just fine. When I took the car out on the road, car idles hard at stop. Put it in neutral a few times. Noticed that the battery gauge fluctuates on the left side of center. It has not done that before, always at dead center. I don't want to start spending more money, especially, after I just put in a new battery. What is the wisest, and least expensive approach that I should take next, in order to address this situation. Also, my "coolant sensor bad" light comes on sporadically. At the same time, a "rear light failure" light comes on as well. I have changed just about every light bulb, except the side blinker. That one is ridiculous to reach! I did replace one coolant sensor last year, because I had no heat. Coolant sensor light did not stay off, but I had heat. The one in the coolant tank was replaced. I understand that there are (2). I have a 98 Grand Jeep Limited. Thanks for help!

i know this is dumb but make sure your connections are really tight. iv had a loose ground cable cause the speedometer to not work but everything else work fine. a loose connection will do some weird stuff.

Hi! Thanks so much for that speedy response. I should show must Jeep what a fast response looks like! When you say check the connections, where do you mean? All over the car? Nothing to do with belts is it? Thanks! How is your Jeep running? Did you hear any futher about Jeep recalls; especially, Grand Jeeps?

Thanks! I will check there. Just had a new battery installed last week. Maybe they didn't tighten cables. Thanks again. If this doesn't solve the problem, I will be back on here again. I am looking through the various problems that are posted, and see that this is a very friendly, and a knowlegeable group of owners. Moreso, there is a profound passion for their Jeeps!
