Capped Hose in engine compartment
There's a capped rubber hose, secured to firewall on left side of engine on my 1994 Jeep Cherokee with a 4.0 L, and runs down to the right side of manual transmission. Don't know where it goes but there's a clamp on the end by the transmission. I have looked and felt all over the trans and motor but can't find any open outlet where it should go to. Any ideas? Thanks, in advance.

Sounds like the vent for the front axle. Check for a vent hole on the rear of the pumpkin at the top. If this is the axle vent tube, I would suggest swapping axle oil now that it has been contaminated and likely low.

Maybe the transfer case vent tube. If it goes down next to the transmission that could be it.
In either case though, axle or transfer case, that's normal.
