Can you tell the future? (motor swap question)
Does anyone see a problem with me putting a 97 4.0 into a 2000 w/ a 4.0. I know the 97 has one less motor mount but, seems like it'll be fairly easy to swap over.
Please give input.... project will be starting 1-13-12.

The head wont have the bosses cast into it to hold down the coil packs- can be remedied with some simple home-made brackest. I also believe the exhaust manifold is different but should bolt up fine. Use the intake manifold from the 2000 also. Don't know anything about different motor mounts, haven't seen anything about that before.

I did almost the same thing. Like Cherockee said you have to make a bracket to hold up the coil pack. You have to use your intake I'm 99% sure. The exhaust should be good and you might run into a couple little problems that you just have to run to the auto parts store to do. If you have luck like me it's gonna be a long couple days....

Swap went well. No real problems with the different year motors. Hopefully the "new" one has many miles left in her.
