Default Can i put a Renix motor in a 98 cherokee?

ive got a 98 with a blown motor. can i take a motor from an older xj (Renx) and swap it into my 98 xj?

Yes. Absolutely.

Below in the link you will find the directions for going the opposite way. still a good guideline.

Make sure to use the 98 style intake/exhaust gasket, flexplate and dizzy.

so just to confirm, i will be taking the Renix block and head. everything els will be from the 98. so i will be keeping all wiring harness, sensors, distributor, flex plate, Exhaust and intake manifold, and pulleys from the 98?

Default Alternator Differences

so im 99% done this swap and i saw on another forum somone was asking about the alternators from different years being compatible. so my question is can i use the alternator from the 98 on the 89 block. currently i have it all hooked up and all the wires fit and is seems like it will work, just wondering if this newer alternator has more/less power and will it be an issue with the older block.

Use the 98 alternator which has the regulator in the PCM. With Renix the regulator is in the alt.
