Below in the link you will find the directions for going the opposite way. still a good guideline.
Make sure to use the 98 style intake/exhaust gasket, flexplate and dizzy.

so just to confirm, i will be taking the Renix block and head. everything els will be from the 98. so i will be keeping all wiring harness, sensors, distributor, flex plate, Exhaust and intake manifold, and pulleys from the 98?

Alternator Differences
so im 99% done this swap and i saw on another forum somone was asking about the alternators from different years being compatible. so my question is can i use the alternator from the 98 on the 89 block. currently i have it all hooked up and all the wires fit and is seems like it will work, just wondering if this newer alternator has more/less power and will it be an issue with the older block.
