Default Can this be fixed Major rust, PIC attached

Just bought this used 99 from a dealer and i was told its rust free. Apart from this there is barely any rust on the vehicle. can this be fixed

This is the frame part above the gas tank. Any input will be appreciated.

Just to clarify, the rust is on the frame?

Yes its the frame rail next to the gas tank.

You've got it good, that's a pretty easy fix. Hack it out and weld in new.

do they sell that frame panel or just use some thicket sheet metal? any idea how much a body shop may charge?

It will be regular sheet metal. I doubt a shop would charge all that much to replace that section but shop around anyway.

Poke your rockers, too. Rust can hide behind paint good enough that you can push your finger right through it.

This is how I felt when that happened on my XJ. Still trying to figure out how I'm gonna fix it.

I can actually see and feel the un-rusted pan above through the holes. The whole jeep undercarriage except this is rust free.

I don't see anything on their site for XJs. If you have the fab skills, you can fix it. A body shop should be able to do it too. Look up body shops local to your area. Don't go to a Maaco, you can find some good talent in local business.
