CA smog legal stroker?
Hi, folks,
I'm wondering if it is possible to build a stroker that would meet California smog laws.
I have an 89 Renix XJ with 190K on the clock, and doing some thinking. I did a search, but it didn't turn up much. What would I need to get, what could I keep/re-use......Any ideas/recipes/hints/tricks, etc.?
Thanks!

You can stroke it, but you have to keep all your smog stuff intact and working and do not tell them you did it. It is not legal to modify the internals.

I am doing a stroker build and from what I understand as long as you keep the smog stuff in tact it will pass the sniffer just fine. Since the block looks exactly the same, they can't tell you have modified any internals so as long as you don't mention it and it passes visual and sniffer you are just fine.
