Default C8.25 vs D35

I need to replace my ring and pinion gear. (Super loud humming. Already tried adjusting, but no improvement.) But I can't find a used one in my area from a trustworthy source. I ran across the following set up in a bone yard near my home today:

D35 / D30 unknown ratio, pulled from an 86 XJ with a NP207 t-case, GM V6

I have an 89 XJ with a C8.25 / D30 set up, 3.55 ratio, NP 242.

To do this, I'll have to swap out both axles (obviously). Here are my questions;
1) Will be I be losing all that much in terms of durability?
2) Will I have any issues considering that the 2 Jeeps had different transfer cases?
3) What is the most likely gear ratio? The donor Jeep had the GM V6.
4) Is this worth the time and effort?

The Dana 35 is a weak axle and most people swap them out for a Chrysler 8.25, I wouldn't put a Dana 35 in anything.

I would have the 8.25 rebuilt. I have a D35 in mine, and it has not been an issue but why go to an inferior product?

It was my first instinct as well. I was waiting for some compelling detail to change my mind, like a probable 4:10 ratio. Just writing it all out helps. Thanks all.
