Default A/C venting

i got a problem with the A/C. I have had my jeep for a while now and the other day the way it was sending the air out of the a/c through the vent started acting funny. It switches from car circulation out of the front vents to the defrost without me changing the a/c switch. I thought that it might be a short but, i could be wrong, i believe it would have been happening the whole time i have had the jeep. Any ideas as to what the problem could be?

Does it happen just randomly or only when the engine is under a load like going up a hill?

The defrost vent is the default on the cherokee, what you have is a vacuum bleed off that is switching the blend doors for you.I just fought the same issue myself its a real pain the .....

x2 on the vacuum leak. Check over your vacuum lines and the vacuum reservoir under the passenger side front bumper for breaks or leaks. Also you can check the vacuum line connections on the back of the ac/heater controls in the dash for loose connections
