A/C Unit Constantly Charging
Ok....after the last few years of constantly adding coolant to the A/C system, I figure it is time to do something about it. Any suggestions before I surf youtube?

charge with dye to find the leak or get a sniffer. I got a sniffer to find my leak...it was the condenser

Save yourself a lot of time and expense.. surf for a reliable AC professional.

LOL......I think so. Taking the compressor out and putting in another seems easy. But dealing with vacuums and pressures.....yuk.

It's really not that bad just got to research and lots of YouTube! I bought me a sniffer, good gauges ,a vacuum pump and just took my time. Yea After buying the stuff might of been same cost as taking it somewhere but I'm a tool guy and it gave my a reason to buy some more!

My AC leak was where the steel mounting plates came in contact with the aluminium passages. To find it I had the garage next door charge it with refrigerant with a tracer dye then use their black light kit to find the leaks. We also charged the system with Nitrogen , sprayed with soapy water and listened out for leaks to confirm the location.
At a minimum I'd suggest getting a garage which deals with AC to find your leak to save getting more one off tools. |
