A/C, repair or remove?
Hi guys, I`m new to this so hope I`m doing things right. I have a problem with the aircon on my 4 litre Cherokee Classic. I thought I`d damaged the transmission while towing my other car home from Le Mans a week or two ago. The transmission tunnel got really hot and a noise appeared with a smell as well. Turns out it was the aircon pump not the auto box and my question is can the aircon be deleted. I know the Sport model in the UK didnt have aircon so I think it must be possible but I`m not sure what parts I need to buy to replace the pump and/or belt. I cant really afford a new pump, £524 fitted. I wont be going back to France in the old girl and it rarely gets that hot over here. Any suggestions will be gratefully received. Thanks for your help, Kev Farrington

in theory, you should be able to remove the compressor with no problems. You would need a belt that is a little shorter. i.e. http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Det...+50038+2038004
input your year of cherokee and be sure to choose the part that reads, "w/o air conditioning"
