A/C Question- 505 Performance Water Pump

Sup dudes,
So I took Uncle Jesse into a shop about a year ago to have the R134 conversion done and have my system recharged. The mechanic told me the compressor had a crack and that the refrigerant just blew right out the hole.

If that is the case, is the system no longer under pressure? He wanted to charge me $700 to do the job but I can get a new compressor and drier installed by me for $130. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't gonna get blasted by something I wasnt aware of haha.

Also, any other tips from people who have done this before would be useful.

Planning on re-doing a bunch of the cooling system while I am at it: new spectra radiator, high flow water pump, high flow therm housing. new transmission cooler lines.

Anyone have any experience with 505 Performance's HF water pump? They have the exact same description verbatim as the Hesco site. I figured maybe they are just getting Hesco's? Or they are plagiarists haha

Thanks, Bruhs!

Get a flowcooler pump.
I've changed the compressor and drier and then took it to the shop to vacuum and charge. Save tons of $.

THATS THE ONE I WANTED! Couldn't remember the name Flowkooler. A few bucks cheaper too. THANK YOU!

Yeah thats my plan too. Replace the units, then take it to the shop to do the rest. You're not kiddin. $700 hundo wasn't even that nuts when you consider brand new compressor and drier would be about $500+, then add the charge and labor. Remanufactured compressor and brand new drier on ebay: $130. I'm going to do the entire thing (incl. radiator, water pump etc) for about $400 +/-

Easy choice.

Do not waste your time with the flowkooler WP. Either get a Carquest/Napa new WP or go to the dealer. Do some searching over at the naxja forums on why to NOT use the Flowkooler.

I think you are talking about the 'old' design flowcooler WP that had the plate riveted on. The new design is billet and way better.

Look at their site and product before you throw stones.

Same old BS perpetuated over on naxja.
