A/C problems

My wife's A/C only blows from the defrost vents no matter what setting we have it on. i have a feeling it is the vacuum harness and i am replacing that tonight. just wanted to see if anyone else has run into this. it's a 1998 XJ. Thanks - John

I have seen the same problem on a few xj's, the default door condition when there is no vacuum pressure is for it to blow defrost, hot. I have a copy of the vacuum diagram somewhere, I'll try to upload it later. However, in the mean time, check your "egg", "football" thing. It is the vacuum reservoir located in the front passenger bumper. if it has a hole in it, or in any of the lines to or from it, you will not get any other air condition.

good luck.

I have an A/C issue after installing my lift and 31"s. When the cruise is on and the A/C it will blow out of the defrost when pulling hills and than go back to the vent on flat/ down hill road. I guess the cruise is taking all the vacuum to keep working. It is no big deal just annoying.

you must have a vacume leak check the vacume ball in the right side of the drivers bumper it might be filled with water cause mine was and i had to sake the living crap out of it to get the water out an i cut the hoses and moved the ball behind the battery and reconnected the shorter lines to the vacume ball
