Default A/C Clutch Sticking

The wife was having issues with the a/c sometimes not blowing cold air. We put a proper charge on it because of a tiny leak somewhere. I shut the engine off and then restarted it a minute later and the a/c wasn't blowing cold now. I noticed the a/c clutch wasn't spinning even though the a/c was on.
If you take a screw driver and tap the compressor clutch clockwise it will take off and engage. I was going to use some lubricant to maybe keep the clutch from sticking. Is this an early sign of compressor clutch failure or just simply a lubrication issue?

It could also be the sign of a loose belt.

Any "lubricant" will kill it for sure, clutch is failing as the gap is excessive. New compressor & clutch is the best solution.

What about just a new clutch? The compressor puts out 50 degree air when the clutch is engaged. How about cleaning the magnet contact strip? I also read some threads about removing a shim on the clutch?

Really hard to source just the clutch.
The shim if in place could be removed but will only last a little while. It won't replace the worn friction material. If the gap is too tight it will drag and create excessive heat.
