A/C Clutch Replacement

Hi. I've got a 2001 XJ that had a bad bearring in the A/C clutch. I didn't want to pull the compressor, and have to recharge the system, so I pulled a clutch off of a junk yard compressor. It has a good bearring in it. I put it back together with the new clutch, and the clutch is to tight against the compressor. This is causing the compressor to be engaged even if the fuse is pulled out. And ideas would be helpfull. Thanks, Jim.:brickwall:

they have shims, basically just a washer, the clutch has to be shimmed right, so its free when disengaged, and angages fully with no slipping when engaged.

Thanks. Do you have any idea where I can get more shims. I used all of them that I had and it still isn't enough.
