A/C blows hot air
When I bought my last 2000 Cherokee the A/C would only blow hot air. After several searches and a couple of tests I realized that the dreaded blend door was the problem. Not wanting to spend $1500 at the dealer OR pull the HVAC myself I enlisted the aid of my friend Dave, an experienced HVAC guy. This is what we came up with. Call it Mickey Mouse if you want... but it works.
I went to the plumbing department at Home Depot and purchased the following:
1 3/4 inch valve
2 5/8 x 3/4 inch hose barb adapter
2 hose clamps
teflon tape.
I cut the top heater hose and installed the unit. Closed for A/C and open for heat. Yes you have to go under the hood but it's O. K. I do suggest if you have it closed for any length of time you open the valve occasionally so the hose remains soft and flexible.
