Default Buying a used lift.

Now before everyone gets their hopes up, i havent made the deal on the lift yet. to be honest i dont even know specs. for it yet. But a guy i met through the passing of a mutual friend drives an XJ with what i think is a RE 3.5" lift kit. Now all i know is that he's changin lifts and is interested in sellin his old stuff. I will have more details when i get em but my question is: what should i look out for when buyin a used lift?

Thanks in advance.

If you can see it on the rig before he takes it apart, check to see if the leafs are sagging and for overall disrepair. Also, ask the guy why he's changing lifts. Probably just because he wants to go bigger but it doesn't hurt to ask. If its still on the heep, ask to go for a drive in it and listen for noises etc.

Look all the suspension pieces over really close for corrosion and trail damage. Thrashed bushings, leaking shocks, sagging or tweaked springs, leafs and coils.
