Default Buying new to me Jeep

So anyone of you guys have some kind of mental list that you run threw before you buy a used Jeep? Im picking up a 88 manche this week with high miles but runs sweet. I know a couple things to look for but what do you look for?

check for the obvious stuff first oil leaks check oil make sure its not milky sign of bad head gasket tires axles body damage on these trucks body damage might mean frame damage take it for a ride if possibly make sure the brakes feel good not mushy or surging listen for loud noises check steering make sure its tight not real sloppy check the frame suspension basicalyy just look the whole truck over if they have a problem with it theres probably something wrong

if you can.. 91 .. last year made i heard they were built stronger and had better components..
88 with the 6 .. 5 spd.. is what you should look for.. make sure it shifts in and out of 4lo and 4 hi.. drive it around in 4 hi slowly and listen for any clicks or pops.. shake the drive shaft.. it should be solid.. check rust under bed.. stuff like that..
mj is just an xj with out the top.. if you think about it. except the bed comes off.. lol

Sorry i did forget to mention the specifics on this new find. Its a 1988 Comanche 2wd with the 4.0. It has 209k but the motor runs good. I could not take it for a ride because the truck had a huge drift as high as the truck on the drivers side. The body is damn near perfect besides the paint being a little rough. Tailgate is in good shape and the clutch feels right. Guy told me it does not leak or use oil. He wants 800 bucks for it and i think im going to get it sometime this week. Damn i wish it was 4wd. Conversations ain't cheap and totaled cherokees are not too easy to find that have not been raped of their parts. I got a Comanche that im selling to buddy about 60% completed due to me moving 1k miles away. It was a 4 cy 2wd, Now a 6 cy 4wd. Not that much of an easy swap unless you have both jeeps side by side swaping parts.
