Default Brush guard compatibility

I just picked up a 99 XJ, and have a chance to buy a mopar brand brush guard for the 84-96. Will this bolt right up, or will there be a fitment issue? I am a noob when it comes to cherokees, and always thought the only difference between the two generations was just the grill/marker lights but the bumpers are the same, right???

Front fender'flare area changed after 1996. Bumper wraps around and forms lower flare/fender on '97 and later.

You could probably run the earlier brush guard but you will have a big gap in your flare area.
