Can anyone tell me how to adjust the track bar properly.

Well Pretty standard for the 3in lift is 3/4 of a in.

I did a write up and posted in the XJ write-ups section a few months ago. I had a strong pull to the right on the jeep, moved it over 3/4 of an inch and the pull is gone jeep tracks good now.

This is for a 6.5" lift. I have a Rusty's Track bar with mount already. I just need to know how to adjust it.

I took a ratchet strap and pulled it over till it looked center and bolted it in. It is close enough and I will let the guy at the alignment shop do the final adjustment after I finish the suspension.

if it's an adjustable, then just unbolt the frame end from the bracket, then have someone inside to turn the steering wheel one way or the other, that will move the jeep body back and forth over the axle. when it looks centered, adjust the track bar until it bolts back into the bracket.

then you can measure from one point to the frame on each side and repeat until you feel it's centered.

i've heard that once you unbolt the frame end, you can just bounce the front end of the jeep up and down hard enough and it will center itself. but haven't been too confident on that route.

either that, or you can take it to an alignment shop, cause the rest probably needs an alignment also.

I would just get an alignment they will get it almost perfect

6.5 inches hmmm Find ya a place that aligns lift that is beyond my knowledge there.

There is alot of stuff that goes with lifts that big.

The best way is get out the tap measure and find the center points of the axle and such and set to that.

I wasn't aware an alignment shop could adjust trackbars?

if it's factory or non adjustable... it's non adjustable.

only aftermarket adjustable track bars can be adjusted.
and yeah, an alignment shop can do it.

Yep thats right but here are RE instructions:

before connecting upper track-bar mount center the xj over the axle by measuring the distance from front fender flair to tire on both sides, center the xj by turning the steering wheel left or right till its centered then adjust hiem or ball joint so it will fit directly into mount tighten and your done.

Dude, it's very simple and your XJ will do the work for you. park it on level ground with the front wheels pointing straight ahead. Connect your track bar to the lower mount on the axle. Screw the upper mount (tie rod end) in or out until it slips right into the upper (frame) mount. The 15mm bolt on the axle mount needs to be torqued to 72 ft. lbs. and the castle nut on the upper mount needs to be torqued to 64 ft. lbs. and install the kotter pin. Make sure to tighten the nut on adjustment part of the tie rod end tight against the upper end of the track bar. DONE! I have a Rusty's adjustable track bar on my XJ.

What if you already installed a 4.5" lift and is getting ready to install a new adj. track bar? Is it necessary to get another alignment just because the axle is moving right to left to get it centered? I understand I will probably need to adjust the steering wheel though.

make sure you take measurements from the fenders to make sure its centered, i did the 3/4 inch hole and now the front ends off about a 1/2 inch, i didnt notice it but the alignment shop did, dohhhh. time to buy a adj trackbar and let them deal with it.....
