broken bolt
I was replacing the rear shocks on my 92 yesterday and broke one of the two upper bolts off . It broke off clean/flush. Any suggestions on getting it out? I tried drilling it with a titanium bit, but that's not going to work. Has anyone ever tried using one of those "easy out bits"?

I wouldnt use an easy out, they usually break in the bolt, and then its really FUBAR. Where did you get a titanium bit at? I would just use a high speed steel bit.

go to home deblow, and get a very good bit. it will go through the screw. though the bit you had may of been titanium, i think it was of the cheeper quality. i have a few nice blades, and they go through everything.

When this happened to my rust infested 96' cherokee I used an air hammer on it. it also broke off flush, i then used a new nut and bolt to replace it .

For how rigged this sounds....I ran into the same problem with my 96 except ALL of my bolts broke!!!! Needless to say i used a cutting torch to get them out, blow the threads out but the holes were still there just a little bigger. So i went to my local hardware store bought some long bolts, nuts and washers and 2 small steel plates. Yea i drilled new holes through the floor and bolted it like that. It sounds rigged and it is but i have NEVER had a problem out of it. And it doesnt leak. Well i havent had it that deep but for what i have done it hasnt.

Right on, thanks for the replies boys. I did soak the **** out of the bolts for 2 days with pb blaster and marvel mystery oil. I do have a torch and an EZ-out so I'll give that a try tomorrow. Thankfully it was only one bolt and I didn't have to drink the rest of my beer to keep my cool!

Well I just spent the best $10. Went to my muffler guy to have a rear hanger rewelded and he offered to take care of the broken bolt for 10 extra dollars. He had it out in less than 10 minutes and even put a new bolt in for me. Sometimes...you do win!

All four of mine snapped.
i ripped up the back carpet and stripped two squares out of the floor panel above the shock mount holes. Then I tacked a nut on the opposite side and pulled them out.
That will never happen again with me... and if it does I just pull up the carpet and take off the metal plates with self taps I used to cover the holes.

Next time I would try cobalt drill bits for broken studs/ bolts, make hole as big as possible and then p/b blast, butane torch and easy out it, works for me every time, and cobalt bits can be used again and again, as older vehicles tend to snap suspension bolts a lot. http://www.ehow.com/about_5417305_co...drill-bit.html
