broke axle good times!!

i recently broke my front passenger side axle knuckle like it sheared in half and i really dont understand how..

but my question is since the inner axle shaft is fine can i just get an outer axle shaft(ujoint to hub) im not sure if it is actually called an outer axle shaft haha..

and another question if i can do that does the "outer axle shaft" have to be from a passenger axle? or can it be from a driverside? cause my buddy has a spare driver side axle assembly i just don't wanna waste his and my time taking it out of his parts jeep if it wont work..

so please im completely lost :pinch:

Just keep in mind they used two different size u-joints in these, make sure they match up before dismantling, lol.

Also keep in mind that the inner shaft will need a really close look to make sure that it wasn't stressed to much when the outer broke. It really sucks to put it back together and have it break and have to do it all again. ( ask me how I know that )

x2

FYI, if you ever have to pull the shafts because they are broken and you are still on the trail. You will need to re-install the outer shaft. If you pull both shaft and start to drive, the unit bearing can pull apart. The outer shaft and nuts prevent this from happening.

I had this happen to a friend, it pulled apart just before he got onto the freeway. :icon_eek:
