Brake pedal or booster sound like air leaks out

hey, got little problem with my brake pedal. this is what its doing every time i push on the pedal, not all the way but like half way to the floor enough to stop me at a light or stop sing, I hear like if air was linking out. :sweatdrop:

So i went and got another brake booster from a guy that was parting out one, and installed it and it keeps on making the same noise ( like air linking out) Unless my luck is that bad that i got another bad booster:icon_redface:

What do you guys think it could be

:guns: 93 Country Cherokee :guns:

does your peddle have pressure? have someone push the brake for you and get out and listen to exaclty where the sound is coming from. could be that one of your bleeders is loose. narrow down the location and go from there

I have the same noise, I thought initially that I had low brake fluid, but after eliminating all things that I thought could be wrong, I realized that its just s noise, it sounds like WWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH right?

but the pedal doesnt feel different or anything, so I just keep driving

Well Im the third, same noise in my 89, some kinda vacuum leak that I havent chased down yet, doesnt change the pedal at all.

if you are getting a blowing/hissing noise when you press the pedal that doesnt stop you have a bad diaphram.

I am with 98 JeepJeep sounds like leak booster diaphragm take the old one apart check for hole in diahragm I have had the master cyl leaking that cause diaphragm to go bad.

same problem here, if you keep the pedal half way down the hissing noise is continuous. It is the diaphragm in the booster, but until the brakes work fine i don't want to change it, and it's a couple of years now.

I had this same problem on my 91 it turned out the rear shoes needed to be replaced along with all the hardware. I know it sounds odd but everyone knows how the XJs are

Same problem but it only happens in reverse. The whole break system was completely redone except the passenger rear drum. I am guessing thats where the noise is coming from at least in mine.

if it goes out you simple wont have power assist brakes...however the brakes will stilll work good. you just will have to put some a$$ behind it.

Hey thanks for the feed back but i got to fix it. My wife and kids drive it during the week its mine on the weekends.

If I would to put a booster from a newer jeep like a 96 trow 2001 would it just fit like the one it has or do i have to do some adjustment to the heep. Would it be a good idea to install the booster with MC of the same years the booster .
