You can always use rivets! I mean if you use seam sealer and then coat the floor after Rivets can be used and come out nice.

I cut out the rust and weld a patch of metal in and then smooth it out with putty. start with 500 and work your way up to 1000 at 1000 wet sand and work up to 2000 then prime wetsand again then ready for paint.
