Just picked up a 93 Country 4.0 4x4. Owner said trans was slipping. It sat for a year and when i go to pick it up today the trans is ok. i check the fluid and its 3 qts low. i also look in the rad. reservoir and its nasty.It doesnt heat, but looks like oil. Is it possible the trans cooler is leaking in the rad. and lost trans fluid (the reason trans was slipping)? This thing is very clean and dont think its ever been off road. i know the prev owner and it was serviced with synthetic mobil 1.Thanks for any input.

 

drain oil and look for coolant in the oil. easier then the other way around i would think

 

oil on dip stick is not milky, just looks like oil. I looked in the radiator while it was running and the antifreeze is bright green in there with brownish/gray colored mixture. The overflow tank has nothing but a brownish/red colored fluid in there. Think im going to try a new rad first.
