Default Body Side Moldings

I have seen the threads about removing the body side moldings, but what about leaving them on and restoring them. What are the options for that? Can they be sprayed with bed liner?

Don't know how that bed liner would stick to the plastic. You would be better off going with Krylon Fusion paint.

I painted the plastic corners on my bumper with bedliner about a month ago and it seems to be holding up so far with the salt and sand. I'm going to do my side mouldings as soon as it warms up with the same stuff.

Not too sure, so far it has lasted, its only a month old though. I tried scratching some off with my boot, but it didn't come off. Its EZ Liner Rubberized spray on bedliner. It doesn't stick to crome I know of that. haha Stupid crome plated tow hooks.

Krylon Fusion is made for plastic. A lot of jeepers use it to paint flares. It will "give" a little with the plastic if something scrapes it. If peeps have used bedliner with success, I say give it a try.

I imagine if you take some fine grit sand paper to the molding the bedliner stuff would stick. I suggest using the dupli-color spray on liner.

Remember the body side mildings are far softer then the bumper endcaps. But as long as you dont flex them some how I bet you would be fine.

I ve used the duplicolor on plastic and it worked really well. Just be sure to clean it reallly well with a solvent that will evaporate. like brake cleaner or xylol. and scratch it up really good with some sand paper or steel wool.

Thanks for the help.
As for removing the molding and the tape that holds it on to the body...Do you have to re-paint or does it clean up and look OK?

I've used a paint and primer made by Krylon for plastic on the T-A hood vents I used. The vents are very flexable and thought thet would hve peeled a long time ago. Use some aceatone before you prime them. Use thin coats on plastic and plenty of dry time in between coats. Before painting them try a product called Back-to-Black it works good too. If you take them off use a heat gun to remove tape and cleaner/wax to restore finish. (Do this it looks better)

I did this about 6 months ago on my old cherokee... I cleaned it all, masked it off good, and did a pretty good job spraying the corner caps fender flares and trim on bottom of door panels and it hasn't scratched off in the least. It actually came out kind of cool... made the fenders look new again unless you looked too closely

Just changed the color of my fender flairs/body trim. From silver to black (Duplicolor bed liner spray on) Looks awsome and was not hard to do. My 13 & 15 yr old sons did the taping. Just follow the derictions and it will turn out great. Sorry I will post pics in my photo album soon!

I took mine off. Use goof off to remove any adhesive. Mask your body line. scratch it up with scotch brite after using 91% rubbing alcohol or prep sol. You can use a good rubberized undercoating, or splurge on the bed liner. Try to spray as far away as you can for a nice even coat. Im doing that and spraying the top with OD green priner. I dont know how you feelabout PRETTY paint jobs though. you can also checkout CamoClad for tghe bottom too.
