Default Body Side Molding Removal???

So I'm thinking of removing the body side molding on my 01 XJ but have no clue how to get the gunk under it off. I know I can probably just take some fishing line and run it down to cut them off but how do I get the crud off afterwards? Ideas??? Thanks.

Will the paint be alright though if I take a scraper to it?

no need for a scraper just use heat (i used a hair dryer) and your thumb and a pink pearl eraser. worked for me fine

Ive used heat before.... its a long and gooey process...

Eastwood Automotive offers a wheel that goes in a die grinder that buzzes the gunk right off kinda like an eraser.

Is there any real drawback to not having them? Mine are grayed out right now and look kinda cheesy.

not that i know of other than "protecting" your door from getting dinged up when opening it. i never liked how it looked, it just took me a long time to get around to taking it off.

Easy, use a heat gun. And find yourself a black rubber sanding block, and use the sanding block to remove the goo. It will turn black and come right off. It is also soft enough to not harm your paint. I removed my molding and goo in less than 1 hour.
