Default Blower Motor Relay blown

I have a 2000 XJ. Recently I replaced my blower motor relay after it blew or burned up. Since then I have replaced it 3 more times and the connector has melted. Does anyone know a common component failure for this issue? I have checked the resistor and it seems okay. It was replaced a year ago anyway and I replaced the blower motor itself about 3 weeks ago.

Have you checked the fan speed switch itself? Check the condition of the plug on the back. Very common problem on the earlier XJs, and not unheard of on the later ones. Mine was basically melted into a lump, lol. Cut the wires back & attached(to new switch) insulated spade connectors, been trouble free ever since.

Check your fuses, plug connections at resistor, and like Barn states plug at fan speed switch.
You can meter resistance for different fan speeds.
If u examine switch and plug and they appear melted/burned/hard, u are probably due for a new switch.
Switch and plug with wire is available as a set due to this being a common failure item.

It doesn't blow the PDC #6 fuse?

Here's a schematic of the blower circuit:

the switch and the connector on the back of it appear okay. I disconnected the green connector behind the glove box and one of the pins looks burned. I traced the wire and it goes to the high side of the relay. the blower motor makes a squeaking noise sometimes also. it didn't make the noise before the motor was replaced. and when the old motor was installed it still blew relays. I was told that it's possible that there is water or some sort of obstruction in the blower motor housing. does anybody think that's likely? I should have looked when I replaced it but that wasn't on my mind. also, does anyone know a way to remove the blower without discharging the a/c?

On a 2000 Grand Cherokee WJ(?) I have a blower that will not switch speeds or shut off unless I take out the fuse. I replaced the resistor this past summer, so that component is rather new. I am searching for the blower motor relay or a switch that could be failing that would cause this situation. I have taken off the glove box and there was no blower motor to be found. I would like to try to get this fixed myself, but cannot seem to locate this on this particular vehicle. Any suggestions? This model has dual climate controls with auto temp adjustment.
