Blower motor question. Not about resistor or not working.
I just bought all new parts for my climate control. New blower, control module, switch, etc. bought the blower motor from rock auto (tyc 700126) and I found out, after returning it and getting a new one because the first did not come with the little hose sticking out the side like is shows in the pictures, that it does not come with one. After digging I have discovered that it is not included because it would be instantly recognizable that the hole is in the wrong location if the hose was attached. I am trying to figure out away to make it work currently trying to route a hose completely around the motor to get it to where it needs to go. My question is two fold. First and foremost do I really need this pipe?? Can I just plug the hole on the jeep side and leave the motor exposed so it vents? And second if not will this pipe move any moisture or just air? I am having trouble with it kinking.

By the way absolutely don't buy the tyc blower motor 700126. This sucks.

^^^ Are you saying that it both sucks and blows? (lol)

ran into same problem with the same replacement motor from tyc....I thought that you might be able to cut the vent hose, add a couple of 90 degree nipples and an additional piece of tubing to make it work...then I checked Advance Auto, they had the motor in stock for $26, no fan or plug, but used the old motor for parts..presto...done and done and blowing better than ever. I also put a new OEM blower resistor in. In process of getting a refund for the junk motor..

Bump for this same situation right now. I may go to the autoparts store and get another, but anyone else make the other blower motor work? Seems crazy to me they are selling these with the vent hole clocked at the wrong position.

Contact rockauto with the photo and they will help you out. I picked up my 95 blower from oriellys but I am unsure what brand. Take your old one down for reference.

It did not come with the cage but I did purchase one with it maybe $20? Just for fun I attempted to remove the old cage and with some wd40 and wiggling it came right off.

I ended up plumbing the vent using an elbow (5/8") and some heater hose to make it work. I don't how necessary that is, but it works fine now.

can you just flip the hose end for end and attach to new blower ?

I think that hose is only used for venting? I was watching a video replacing the blower motor on a 93 and the person stated it's a vent hose used for cooling the motor. Without the vent hose likely the motor would overheat?
My Jeep part manual shows an OEM blower motor p/n 55036328 for 94 - 96 XJ RockAuto's TYC 700126 {#5114162AA, 56000174} Hose not Included ---- JEEP CHEROKEE 1988-1996 E-mail Rock Auto Service support (possibly with pics) describing the discrepancy. If Rock Auto won't send anther one free of charge. I would just remove the old motor from the old housing, clean up and paint the old housing and swap in the new TYC motor along with it's new bearing. Or possibly plug any existing hole in the TYC housing and drill another one it the correct location. All you would need to do is loosen a couple of screws and pull the motor out to for access to the housing. TYC website for their 700126 blower motor matches AC Delco15-8392 CHRYSLER 5114162AA CHRYSLER 56000174 FOUR SEASONS 35474 SPECTRA PREMIUM 3010132 VDO PM272 Vista Pro5338 |
My 95 ZJ blower motor has started to squeal, mostly when set to low. Rock Auto has closeouts on VDO blower motors w/o fan for $20.00 plus shipping. However I found a brand new Four Season on eBay w/o the fan for $20.00 and free shipping.
I believe the internals of similar years blower motors are pretty much the same, only the motor housing, vent hole and possibly connections may be different. Four Seasons blower motor list many other models and manufactures such as Dodge, etc. as using the exact same blower motor. You can possibly contact TYC and asked them what's going on with their 700126 blower motor installation in a 96 XJ. https://tyc.mycarparts.net/products/...id=15599019636 |
Get the right motor, send that POS back. The hole is a cooling vent. Sure there are ways to make it work, but just get the 'right' motor. Try Quadratec. If you bastardize the hose, if you (or the next owner) need to replace, it probably won't work if the next motor is the 'right 'one.. That's what I would do.
