Default Blower Motor/Electric Fan?

I've read quite a bit, but couldn't figure this out exactly. Sorry if I missed the obvious.

The electric fan is tied to the AC compressor, and can cause the fan not to work....right?

If my blower motor isn't working, will this also cause the electric cooling fan to not work?

Thanks,
Ken

Your blower motor will work regardless of what the electric fan or ac is doing.

My blower motor isn't working. I have not done the trouble shooting yet.

I don't think my e-fan is coming on. Before I tear into it too far I want to make sure it isn't somehow tied to the blower motor/AC system.

Thanks.

Your electric fan will come on when you turn on your a/c on, or when temp reaches about210-220 under 35mph. If your a/c is low on freon it will not come on at all, check your a/c for proper charge. Your blower motor is independent of both. Did they both go out at the same time?

I can't be sure if they went out at the same time. This spring the blower motor quit working. I have not trouble shot it, so not sure if it is the motor, relay, or ??.

Now in the heat of summer, having minor cooling issues in traffic or slow off road. Radiator and hoses are new, 196* thermostat. Lower hose is not collapsing, but I don't remember if it has the wire spring in it to prevent that.

Tested fan clutch this morning, spins pretty free at temp, going to replace it tomorrow. I am making a set of test leads with alligator clips to test e-fan.

I guess I need to get blower motor repaired and AC charged if fan tests OK.

Am I missing anything?

You can also check your blower the same way as the electric fan.

e-fan & blower motor both come on when I put power to them (test leads from battery).

Blower motor relay don't look burned. Thinking of just replacing blower motor & relay.

When I short across temp probe e-fan comes on. Need a new (maybe lower temp?) probe.

Check power to and from your blower switch,I would just trace it down. As far as the temp probe goes, you should be able to test it,I always put them in hot water and make sure I get resistance when it reaches the point where it should close.

No power to relay in any blower switch position.

Is there another fuse? I thought # 5 (30A) powered that?

I really don't want to tear into the dash to get at that switch?

I am not sure which fuse it might be. do you have the owners manual? your blower runs with power directly to it,it is up to you weather you want to trace it down,i personally would rather do it myself than pay someone to do it,unless you have someone that can.
