one more question location of resistor? look under the dash board of the passenger side, you will find the blower there. the wirings fixed to the blower are on the resistor. just remove the wiring and the resistor will come out. You can do it yourself, no need to visit a workshop. |
Anyone got a picture as to which wires im supposed to look for?? cause I'm color blind and there's quite a few wires under the dash on the passenger side, and the only wires I can tell and know for a fact go to the blower motor are the ones that actually connect to it in the engine bay!!

OK I got mine out but it don't LOOK bad... nothing's burnt!! But the blower motor quit just like everyone explains.... first the low went out then #2 then 3 and high lasted for awhile but soon followed the rest!!
Granted this thing looks like its the original from factory but I figured maybe the coils would b melted or somethin visually would be wrong!! Any ideas??? I'm trying to avoid spending $30 that I don't have!!! |
I just replaced it in my 96, it didn't look bad but didn't work. It should only run you about $13 at napa
|
OK I can't figure this thing out..... checked the resistor with my buddy's Jeep... worked fine!! Took my dash apart and found the switch was a little melted so I fixed it but didn't fix the fact that the blower motor will not turn on...checked all the fuses in the fuse panel and all are good but I'm not getting any power to the switch itself and I know the motor works cause I wired it to the battery but can anyone tell me what to look at now?? I know I'm Not getting any power to the switch so what would cause this seeing as though the fuse is good?!?!?! Oh and I tested the switch just in case and its fine!!
|
c'mon..... I know someone knows more about this!!! I'd rather not run a toggle for somethin that already has a switch!!!
|
It doesn't come on at all or just on high?
|
Blower motor itself may be bad. Short in the motor could have melted the switch. have you tested the motor yet.

so it worked on 1-3 for a while, then one by one, you lost speeds untill it was just 4? if so, then id still assume the resistor. when your running on a lower speed (1-3) the resistor litterally resists the signal and limits the power. but on 4 it totally bypasses the resistor and runs full blast. so if its not working at all, then its probably NOT the resistor. but if 4 still works, then id say yes to the resistor... its a cheap part to replace, so do it and see if its fixed. if not, i know there was a suggestion to check the blower motor as well for defect. but start simple and progress from there. good luck!
