Nothing like hindering the workings of a crucial safety feature.
Most idiot drivers can't see an XJ's brake lights as they are...and you wish to darken them.
You are going in the wrong direction.
If anything you want to make the brake lights brighter.
Burn the retinas of the cell phone talking, coffee-can mufflered ricer driver behind you.

x2 on messing with safety. i have been rear ended twice in my jeep because people said they didnt see my tail lights...i since added led lights to my bumper so now when i hit my brakes it lights the entire block behind me. no morwe dumb excuses for peeps!!! you will look real cool driving right before someone rear ends you if you tint your tail lights. add safety to your rig, dont take it away!!

Blacked out tail lights, head lights, Here in Wisconsin are illegal. Even dark tinted front driver side & passenger side windows is also illegal. And the last thing I want to do. Is give a reason for the police to stop me. Al thought on some vehicles it looks kind neat. ( show cars & trucks, I mean ) I myself replaced my headlights with HID Hyper white, And someday will replace the tail lights with LED's. So if I get hit, it's because they where blinded by them. Not that they didn't see me.

tape of and paint
check out my pics under pic section. I just taped off most of the ugly stock tail light and painted them with auto match paint. I had them blacked out but it would not pass inspection here in Missouri so I went this route
