bizarre idling problem
My friend recently purchased a 96 Jeep XJ and has been having an idling issue with it.
This first started when the headlights were accidentally left on and the battery ran low. After a jump the truck would stall unless the accelerator was keeping the rpms up. After about 5-10 minutes of feathering the pedal the jeep ran fine and kept its own idle. The next few days it continued to run like normal, but today it started happening again.
I read a few people had problems with the throttle positioning sensor. Is this a typical symptom of the TPS going bad? I looked for vacuum leaks and the ends of two of the vacuum lines heading from the air intake to the valve cover have cracks in the gasket/plug that fits into the valve cover. When the car was idling fine I move the vacuums lines a little, but the idle didn't seem to be effected. Any ideas?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I'd start with the battery. Get it tested, a weak battery can suck off enough power to cause issues. Fix any known AIR leaks, intake , exhaust , vacuum. Clean the throtle body, sensors and injectors.

Thanks for the tips guys.
I was thinking the battery too, I checked the voltage with the car off and on and it read 12V and 13.8 ish respectively. Might as well get it checked though.
