Default Since theres no BCM......

Alright guys heres my deal. have a 98 xj that started doing some crazy **** the other morning.

When the key is off blower motor will stay on if not in the off position

rear wiper motor makes a weird noise along with the blinker relay

if you hit the rear wiper button the dome lights come on dim.

blinkers will come on if you turn them on.

^ this is all if the doors are closed and ignitions off ( IF THERES STUFF IM FORGETTING IT DOES ILL POST AS I REMEMBER )

if you turn on the ignition or open the doors any one of them it doesnt act up.

now since this has started my drive side front blinker went out, front passenger and rear tail lights are out ( bulbs are good ). I would think this would be a BCM problem but the xjs lack them. Other then my lift the jeep is stock. not hacked or anything.

Ive checked the ignition and its fine. I didnt get to far into this yet because of work but i didnt see many threads with similar problems on here. ive been checking alot of the grounds and they seem fine. I read somewhere the cluster controls alot in the newer xjs? Any ideas or thoughts guys?

Wow I thought you were just joking at first.

Sounds like a major relay or two are freaking out.

Try and get ahold of a Factory Service Manual for your year and it'll have all the wiring diagrams you need as well as some good diagnosing information.

I'm not smart when it comes to electrical, maybe someone else has an idea though.

Sounds like a classic case of the Junction Block (JB) puking its guts out.

Pull the whole cover off the JB and take a preliminary look at the JB to see if there is any greenies showing (corrosion). You may end up pulling the JB fuse/relay panel and inspecting the back side of the panel for corrosion. If clean, the harness from connector C4 (the big one held in place by a bolt) to connector C100 (the large connector under the center of the dash) may be shorted internally.

Woah. Did your Jeep go for a swim lately? First thing I'd check is the junction block in the passenger kick panel. Every one of those circuits goes through there. You may need to actually pull it out. It may just look like this:

Still worth looking into. Corrosion has a weird way of effecting you at a bad time.

This for sure. If it happened once it will happen again and most likely when you are in the woods in the middle of nowhere with no cell service.

I snagged another one but i dont see how it would be the problem if it only happens when i go splashing around. interior stays dry.

Firewall bulkhead connector could be burnt/corroded.

You won't know the status of the JB until you inspect it. Requires removing it and inspecting the back side as well.

If your JB is okay you may want to turn your attention to the PDC. If you only have problems after you go splashing around, the PDC is in a bad location for that sort of activity.

Does the outside your PDC look like it has been splashed with water, mud, etc.? If so, you may want to disassemble the PDC to the point that you can look at the underside of the fuses, relays, and wiring.
