I'm thinking rebuilt... what is their warranty on the job??? used should be fine but if the price is relatively the same then go rebuilt... on the used you risk getting a bad one a paying labor twice although with 47,000 miles it should still be good... still a slight risk...

What makes you think the trans is done with only 110K miles? They are pretty hard to kill from what I have seen.

second parts can be good... I would use them... lots of money can be saved with good used parts... I just figured that with the prices he was quoted there wasn't enough of a savings for the hassle... either way he chooses he should be ok, the used tranny only had 47k on it but if the reman unit comes with a good warranty then that's the route I would go...

Two weeks ago it started making a kinda "winding" sound off and on during acceleration.(fluid was pink and not burnt) last week it started doing it on every acceleration up to about 30 then it would stop,.(fluid still pink and not burnt) last night we were coming home from dinner made a right into the development and heard a loud rubbing/vibration i thought i was loosing the tread on a tire it kinda felt like running over gravel on concrete. i slowed down rolled the window down while pulling into my driveway (tranny grinding and crunching gears) i was gonna take it for a test drive to try to figure out wtf?? but when i put it reverse i backed up about 10 feet and it was crunching/poping the whole way i was even worse when i pull it forward again?? Sounds like binding and gear noise, it even does it with the engine off and trans in neutral when i push it.(fluid still pink and not burnt) it dosnt sound like its the rear diff, it deffinatly sounds like tis coming from the trans. Every shop i talk to says either rebuild or replace, but i havnt offically had it checked out.

noises in the drivetrain can be tricky... I know you are there with the vehicle but to completely rule out the rear you could drop the drive shaft and push the vehicle to see if the noise is still there or not... it's only 4 bolts that you need to take off to drop it...

Guess those burn outs were bad for the trans after all.

Just kidding. Let us know what the shop tells you is wrong.

if it's set to be towed then you might as well let them check it out... keep us posted on what they find...
