Default Best way to clean engine/engine bay?

Ok so it seems ol' bessy has gotten a little dirty. Apart from the long drive ive been having for college, The trek through mudholes and swampy trails to partys has really got my engine bay looking... well a little brown. I'm usually not bothered by my jeep being a little dirty but i like to keep the engine bay clean. Any way i can get all that mud and dirt out of the engine bay without f'ing anything up? Its my only source of transportation so i cant risk doing anything that could be detramental to my jeeps health. THANKS

degreaser and water if all your electrical connections are good you should not have any problems if your worried go buy a tube of diaelectric grease and goop all your connectors including spark plug wires then spray up the degreaser/ soak/ rinse

YMMV, you may end up walking.

Yeah...pressure wash the wrong thing and you'll be in a world of ****...if you really want to **** stuff up spray it down while it's still hot...if your gonna do it do it right..engine degrease and minimal water.

I figured that would be the case. the engine cleaner setting at the car wash scares me. just like the wheel cleaner setting

Take a bunch of grocery bags with you. Cover the alternator, fusebox, computer and battery up. Spray down with purple power(or preferred cleaner), scrub, let sit for a few minutes then wash off. As soon as your done washing uncover everything and start the motor. I like to spray armor all all over just for a little extra shiny.
