I've found that using seafoam in the engine before an oil change, and running it a bit to get it nice and hot, works very well. the oil drains right out like water! The oil has been Mobil1 and the filters have always been Mopar since I've owned the truck. I also use a can of Restore every other oil change or so. I'm not sure if the Restore really does anything, but my lifters still sound fine at 180,000 miles.

I've heard good things about both of them.
slick 50=

dont use slick 50, or any additive like slick 50 for that matter. It really doesnt help anything at all and sometimes harms your motor.

the big secret ingredient in slick 50 is polytetroflouroethylene, or in common terms teflon. however it isnt called that because it is a registered trademark to dupont, who invented it. dupont has also stated that teflon is not useful as an oil additive in any way. i believe if i recall correctly the company that makes slick 50 was sued a while back for false claims about the product by the FTC.

just my .02 hope that helps

Here's what I consider to be the finest additive available. I'm not gonna waste a bunch of time typing all the BS, here's a link for you.

www.auto-rx.com

The stuff does everything the guy claims it will do, which is kinda cool in today's world. It is pricey, but it works very well. I use it in everything including the Harley.

Auto RX is just a vegetable ester light lubricant. Being an organic ester it has a pretty high level of detergent. It will certainly clean any crap out of the oil system. But being on the lighter end of the viscosity scale, and no effective additive package it is not a replacement for good oil. A diesel or kerosene flush will do exactly the same thing and save you quite a bit of money.

So let me get this straight, you can flush out your engine pretty well using sea foam?

Whohey, I'm not a chemist, so I can't argue your claim. What I would like to do though, is point out that the Auto-rx website, and their instructions for using their product, make no claims about replacing good oil with their product. Rather the product is intended as an effective engine cleaning detergent (an additive only), which it is. They don't try to sway your opinion about the base oil you use. What they tell you is that using the product as directed will remove baked in carbon, sludge, and varnish from your engine interior. It does that very effectively, from personal experience.
I'm sure you will agree that engine seals lose their ability to seal, mainly due to carbonizing of the flexible surfaces, and subsequent hardening. Auto-Rx removes this carbon, and allows the seal to soften again, thereby replacing the sealing ability. Same with your valve seals, piston rings, oiling galleries, and valve train components. Their only reference to inexpensive oil is during the initial uses of the product. They tell you to not waste money on expensive oil while you are running the product.

I bought my present XJ with 177K+ miles, and a leaking rear seal, plus some louder than normal lifters. I started the Auto-Rx treatment at the first oil change, using the Wal-mart house brand of 10-30. I forget their name for it, Super-tech maybe. In any case, after 3000 miles and beginning the second stage of treatment, my rear seal is dry, and I have no lifter noise. My oil pressure is restored back to a level of a much younger engine, and all is well.
My Older CJ has 221K+ miles and is running like a champ. It had a lifter that was banging pretty loud, but quieted soon after adding the Auto-Rx.
Since the product has about the same viscosity as water, I have no doubts that it doesn't work by the thickener method. All I can base my opinion on is success, and success is very hard to argue with.

And finally, the product you push is an excellent product, I have used it in the past, with good results, so my post is not aimed at discrediting your products. It was intended to offer a suggestion that was solicited by another member.
Best,
Bob

Go with seafoam. Man, I just registered, so I could post it. I put a can of seafoam in the tank, every other fill up. I also run it into the throttle body , put 6oz in the crank case before every oil change.

Its the only thing I have ever used, where I have seen results. From getting rid of check engine light from dirty O2 censor to getting rid of knocks..

I love it.

And the trans fluid I add right before I'm gonna change the oil, and do some running around to circulate it and get it all nice and hot, then change the oil. It acts like a poor man's engine flush without killing your gaskets with petroleum distillates.
Lucas Oil by far is the best additive ever. I use it in everything also and it has never failed once. Everytime I use it in a vehicle it seems to get more power. Lucas Oil really makes a great product. Since I started doing Jeep oil changes I use the 5 quarts of Castrol and the last quart Ill just use the whole quart of Lucas Oil Stabilizer. And by that I mean I used the normal Lucas Oil Stabilizer, not the Synthetic Oil Stabilizer because after trying it out and doing a couple oil changes with it, it seemed to be way to thin.. dont get me wrong if I had a truck with barely any miles on it I would use it but not for the 4.0L with over 100k.
