yea I'm at 249K and it seems that she is now as strong as she once was, but I think that is due to clogged injectors and other items. I'm starting a regiment of fuel cleaners to help, but I need to replace the fuel filter before I start that cause I have heard of issues with cleaners breaking down stuff in the filter and allowing it to pass through... not sure how true that is but it's better safe then sorry...

I took a '96 XJ to 325,000 miles and running. The vehicle also had a salvage title since 75,000 miles. I used Trop Artic 10-30 Summer, Winter and everywhere in between. Two rules of thumb when doing oil selection for your Jeep. Stay consistent, I.E. don't change brands and weights all the time. Find an oil and stick to it. Second, don't change weights. All kinds of people think its beneficial to put lighter or heavier weight for whatever reason. That is not true. Use 10.30 all year round unless you live in Canada or Alaska. And make sure you change your filter frequently too. Don't try and be cheap by not changing your filter. Good luck.

Do a fuel injection cleaner. You probably have to go to a shop to get this done. They will disconnect your fuel pump and run your engine on an injector cleaner for a few minutes and should get your injectors cleaned out. Also, after that is done replace the injector O-rings. Then clean the throttle body and replace any exhaust parts that are rusted or broken. After all that you should be in better shape considering you have good spark and functioning O2 sensors.

I use Castrol GTX 10w30 year round. Maintenance. I change my oil every
3000miles and also use Mopar oil filters only.

The Beast. My 2001 Jeep CHerokee...
I have a 2001 Cherokee 4.0. I have put a lot of money and time into restoring her. An idiot mechanic or, so called mechanic almost ruined her. WHen I got it he had removed the thermostat and the engine skipped as if two of the cylinders were missing. Now she runs better but I need some advice of oil weights to use. I have a 5W30 in her now but I hear this is not the best for a high mileage vehicle. any advice would be helpful.

Started running T5 Rotella a couple months ago and my 92 with 189K and a good deal of abuse from the previous owner is running very well.
I also changed out the injectors and am running a new MSD coil but honestly I am now on the Rotella bandwagon.

Regular oil and filter changes are the most important things you can do. Oil choice is a highly debatable subject.
A lot of us here are on the Rotella bandwagon. I run T6, but I'm "low miles" at 105k. Others like T5.
Since we've said Rotella over three times now, does Mr. Salad magically appear??
