Or do a search

Spec calls for 10W30, some guys use synthetic, some use high mileage. All work, just change it regularly. The 4.0 is not finicky when cared for.

Rotella T 15w-40. Good stuff. I had the same question when I first purchased my 2000. No matter where I researched, Rotella came up at least once, if not multiple times, and people ONLY had awesome things to say about it. I've run it ever since.

Use the search button. You'll find a LOT of reviews/opinions/oil wars there.

Agreed. I went through a week of reading about oil. At the end of the day, as someone else stated, if you change it regularly, it won't really matter.

In the interest of saving some time, just get Rotella T 15w-40. I did the research already, and as I stated, in every Jeep Cherokee oil thread, it was mentioned, in a good way.

15w40 or 5w40? I personally run the 5w40, and love it. But I ran with a 5w40 because it was fall/winter. The 5w made cold starts easier. I plan to run 10w40 in the summer. How does your rig do with the 15w40? I'd think 15w would be kinda heavy for cold starts, but I very well may be wrong.

I currently have Quaker State 10w-40 and a FRAM PH8 oil filter in&ON MY 2001 SilverStone Metallic Cherokees 64,820 MILE 4.0, and Pennzoil 10w-30 and a FRAM Tough Guard in&on my 99s 140,??? mile 4.0 and they both run great. I do plan to use 10w-30 oil for the next oil change in my 01s 4.0, though. the 10w-40 didnt seem to do much of anything, and 10w-30 has more base oil for lubrication vs. a 10w-40 weight that has more viscosity improvers and less base oil.

I run Rotella t6 5-40 in the winter and I will be changing it over to summer Rotella (thicker weight) within the next month. I also run WIX or Napa gold filters. I have ran Rotella for years in my muscle cars and its been a great oil for me.
