Belt removal driving me mad

I cannot for the life of me remove the belt. I've spent at least an hour, maybe an hour and a half trying to remove it. I can't find anything online that helps, everything I've tried yields absolutely no results. Does anyone have photos they will share with me?

I've loosened the hell out of the 2 volts on the back of the power steering, I've loosened the hell out of the adjustment screw, I've loosened the screw on the bottom of the power steering pump thing. Nothing is losening the belt though.

There should be a bolt at the top too.........one that it pivots on.........got that one?

dude, loosen the idler pulley bolt (center bolt on wheel in front of slightly below steering pump) and that thing will jump off at you...

edited to clarify: don't take it off or out, just loosen it about two full rotations...

Would really help if you posted/filled out profile what year this thing is as they are not all the same.

When you cool down, please fill out your info. They are different. Excellent photos! (we might be stealing some). My experience there was missing a lower bolt. You mention getting that......only question there is ,is it the same one. I almost need to deflect the belt to get at mine. Maybe this diagram is correct>

Found it! As I had guessed, wrong bottom bolt. Again, excellent photos. The front lower bolt you missed, goes front to back like the two upper's facing forward. The bracket you loosened with that vertical bolt, wasn't it. :donatello:

I just noticed. In your third photo you can see the bracket slot for the lower bolt.

It's a 1994 Cherokee, 6 cylinder 4.0l. 5 speed manual if that makes any difference.

Makes lots of difference, and no one should need to find that post to find out. You have other issues!

Man..what are you using to get that depth of field at that range?
