I have been trying to get my belt on a 96 jeep grand cherokee limited v8 for three days now and for some reason its not going on. I replaced the tensioner and idler pulley. when i pull down on the tensioner to losen it i cant seem to get the belt over the idler alternator or the tensioner puley I miss it by barely an inch. But also when I put the old belt on it goes on fine. both belts are the same model and same size even took it back to see if it was defective it isnt. Any help would be greatly appreciated

 

the old belt is streched thats why it is easier to get on.

 

I understand thats but should it be that hard to put on a new one?
