Default Belt fell off randomly

I was sitting in park and I heard a strange noise so I turned my Jeep off and sat there for a minute and I heard splattering so I popped the hood and jumped out and coolant was gushing out from under and the belt that wraps around the alternator and fan on the front of the engine was off but not damaged...I couldn't locate where the coolant was coming from either. It loooooked like it was coming (standing in front of the Jeep) from the bottom right side of the engine where that one big hose goes in. How would the belt just come off like that?

If your lower rad hose broke and started shooting out coolant I imagine it wouldn't take much for the belt to slip off. Check your hoses, put water/coolant in your radiator and watch for leaks.

The most likely way it would come off is that it was too loose. The other common way I know the serpantine belt comes of is the Vibration Dampener (harmonic balancer) separates on XJ 4.0s. the inner and outer parts of the Vibration Dampener actually begin to separate and the outer pulley grove starts walking out (away from the motor) and causes the belt to be misaligned with the other pulleys and the belt shreads or pops off.

Hmm where is that and how do I check it?

It's the main and biggest pulley on the front of the motor in the middle at the bottom. The one attached to the crank shaft. Take a close up look at it. The inner and outer rings should be flush with each other. If the outer portion is farther from the motor than the inner portion. Then, it has separated and needs to be replaced.

I'll have to agree here.

Because what you described is the lower rad hose detaching.

Yes, the lower rad hose detaching from the water pump, yes?

Time to get some better clamps!
