Battery and security system?
Hello all
I recently purchased a 1995 Cherokee country 6 cyl. my first jeep and it seem to be well made. It was "T boned" and looks pretty bad but will do for a winter vehicle and when I need a 4 wheel drive.
I disconnected the battery. when I hooked it back up the parking lights flashed and a small red light on the left side of the dash next to the rear defroster blinked. The lights blinked in a regular pattern( a certain number of blinks then a pause). we could not start the car. After putting the positive battery cable on and off several times I finally got it to work.
I have no manual and I think it has to do with a security system.
does any one know what this is and how I can avoid it in the future?

took me 3 days to find that out on my 91. I had just rebuilt and replaced the motor and thought I was an idiot and fubared something up.
