where is the battery ground located at? my jeep wont start but the light come on.

i think the ground is directly to the left of the battery tray. at least thats where it is in my 01. its a black wire and a bolt i think.

either the inner fender, right beside the battery, or to the block. depending on year, i guess.

follow the cable.....?

Offroadnut, the negative battery cable on your 1990 XJ is grouded to a stud at the rear of the engine block on the passenger side. Just start at the battery and follow the cable down. Put your finger right between the number 5 and 6 sparkplug holes and go straight down. It's most likely covered in goop, oil and dirt but, it's there.
