Default Battery Cable Suggestions.....

okay so i'm going to be running new battery cables on my 97 cherokee. should i just get the cables at autozone, or advanced auto? or should i be getting them somewhere else?
will i need anything else other than the cables themselves to get the job done right? anyone know the length that i'll need? any help would be great....

i called the stealership, as i always do, just to get a chuckle out of what they charge....they want $207 for the cables and 2 hours of labor.......total = $350 for new battery cables............hahahahahaha

I won't accept auto-part battery cables, among other things. A lot of people, me included, pay dealer(-25%) price for the correct part so there's no guess work. It's "Exact Fit" for YOUR application. No universal garbage. No guess work. No jury-rigging. No problems. I trust MOPAR parts.

".....no problems." That is worth it to me. In fact, I recently replaced the old original cables on my '97 ZJ, with Mopar cables, and eliminated some electrical issues on it.

I'm sorry buddy but any one who would buy Mopar dealership wires for $200 bucks just because they are "exact fit" must be rich, lazy,or just crazy! Just get some good welding wire at a welding supply store and some copper connectors and doit up, man. It should not be that big of a job

What difference does it make to you what I pay for parts? Crazy YES. Lazy, sometimes. Not rich by any means. I like the look of the factory harness. I like dependability. Our Jeeps are not cobbled up from cheaper stuff that might work as good as stock. They get routine maintenance and any service that's needed to keep them interstate ready at all times. You buy what you want and be happy with it. I'll do the same.

I hear you. I'm much the same way - I feel I may need to jump in and drive coast-to-coast on short notice, so I try to make sure my vehicles are ready for it.

I've done the best I can to make my cables "exact fit" - the primary difference is that they're 1AWG instead of OEM 8AWG. This allows for upgrades in the future, and improves conductivity (improving grounds - and, according to reports from the field, resulting in somewhat faster cranking, somewhat faster starts, and cleaning up the ground reference for the signals/ECU probably results in the field reports I've had on improving fuel mileage measureably [not anything spectacular, but anywhere from 1/2-1mpg would be in line with the reports I've gotten.)

any one with common sense can measure an estimation on how long each cable should be. i bought some for 24.99 already made from advance auto. installed them in about 15 mins had maybe 1 inch of slack. tied them down the way they were originally and everything works great.

i wouldnt spend 300 bucks for batt cables. and i would use that 275 for a aussie front locker. lol just suggesting you doit yourself.

Hey you can buy whatever you want buddy and i know i will, but if you think Mopar OEM parts are the BEST parts to buy just because that's what the jeep came with or what daimler chrysler thought was the best than you need some schooling bro! I wish I owned the dealership that you go too!HAHA

A lot of the mod.'s that are discussed on here seem to be done on dual purpose vehicles. As my Jeeps are not used off-road most of those ideas fall under the good-reading topic and don't apply. I choose to keep my Jeeps mostly stock. My turbo cars on the other hand have very few original parts remaining. It's all a matter of personal preference. And it's a bad time to be wishing for a dealership. Specially a Chrysler one!
