I know I saw it on here before but I can't find it on the search. But what kind of finish is best on a new bare metal bumper w/ tire carrier. I have heard about the roll on bed liner (2-3 applications) you can from wal-mart... everyone agree it's the best remedy?
Powdercoating is another option...it is a powder that is sprayed on, then baked to give a very hard, durable finish. It is what usually comes on aftermarket bumpers, brush guards, etc.
It isn't cheap, though...probably about $150-200-ish.

One nice thing about the rattle cans, or bedliner, is that touching it up is very easy. Whereas touching up damaged powdercoat, not so easy. Not to mention the money you save painting it yourself over powdercoating it...

my first choice would be several coats of bedliner with rattle can flat black on top.
my second choice would be just flat back rattle can paint
