Default Ball Joint Tightness???

Was wondering what all of your takes were on this,,, a new ball joint, in your hands,,, how tight should they be ? Should you be able to move it ? First thing I do with a used one is try to move it, and they usually do without much effort. I like my new Spicers, tighter than a frog's butt !!!

A new one should be nice and tight. If you put a little effort into it you can move it, but not much.

This has been my (limited) experience as well. I can move new ones but not easily. However, if the grease gets pressed out of them I think that will make them a little easier to move around.

I had pressed one in and started getting all sideways on me, so had to push it back out. In that process it certainly squeezed grease out of the top, and was slightly easier to move around, until I added more grease. Unless someone can tell me if they think pressing it back out caused it to break. I wouldn't think so. It's not like it took any press effort to pop it back out, but I could be wrong. I mean so far it drives fine (knocking on wood).

To pop them out with a cheap press, once I get so far, I use the axle nut with the press for the uppers.
