I dont think its the u joints, but it is in the drivetrain, makes a sound like sticking something in a fan blade. Not the creak or pop of the u joint. would the tranny or torque converter do this?

its not low octane gasoline pinging in the chambers? if you don't have enough antiknock detergent in the fuel then it will ping under hard acceleration

Could be cracked flex plate.

Problem identified. Busted motor mount bushing lets engine torque enough on take off for the fan to hit the shroud. Giving it gas while holding foot on break allowed the problem to be seen and heard at same time.

I have this same issue...I'll check the motor mount and fan hitting the fan shroud
