does just the mirror fall off or does the metal tab that holds the mirror fall off?

When I ran into this problem I just asked the glass guy that does all our windshields at work if he could help me out. He told me normally its about $5, since he does a lot of work for us I got the homeboy discount, $0. The mirror was still attached two years later when I hauled the sucker to the junkyard. Might be an option for ya.

^ this and clean old glue from both parts with a razor blade before cleaning with Isopropyl (aka Rubbing Alcohol).
