And did you check preload? Do you know if PO fiddled with that?

I believe I do, I'll have to look and see. Can I confidently check for a wiped cam lobe by doing this? I did not check preload, but I'll have to go through and check all that now. I dont know if the PO messed with that or not.

Cam lift 0.253 in., valve lift 0.405 in. (rockers are 1.6:1)

It'll certainly steer you in the right direction.

Flexplate should still be on the list. If PO pulled engine/transmission out as a unit, issue was there before that, and he didn't check.

i would pop the distributor cap and check mechanical timing if someone has been playing with the distributor. Then look at data streams on your scanner and see if anything looks goofy. Maybe tps or map?

One would assume that his cams are in at least acceptable shape due to his compression numbers being fair to decent. I would think that a wiped lobe or similar would drop that cyl compression to much poorer numbers. See post #28

I have not gotten around to checking on the cam yet, but when I do I will report back on what I find
