Default Back hatch shaking around while driving?

The back hatch on my Cherokee shakes while your driving. What could cause this? The shocks on the hatch are in fact garbage. They don't hold up the rear hatch when you open it. Could that be the problem? The actual latch for the hatch looks fine, although it does move around and seems to have a gap between the bolt and the latch, but it seems normal because the latch isn't bent. All the weather stripping is there. Anyone know what the cause of this could be?

the post that the latch latches onto wears out and gets grooved and sloppy

undo the two nuts from underside and either:

flip it around 180 degrees or put washers underneath to raise it

this way you give the latch something original sized to latch onto

Also, there are rubber bumpers on the side corners of of hatch. They need to be in place to properly secure hatch.

You were right! The post was worn down. I flipped it and put washers under it and now the hatch stays still. I'm trying to figure out what the name of it is so I can order a new one on eBay, but I can't find one. I'm finding the different style ones that come on the 98-02 Cherokees but none for mine which is a 95

For the life of me I can not remember what they looked like on my '96 that I just sold. Gotta figure they would work on a '95. Replaced the ones you are looking at on my '00 which will not work like you already know. Did find these though:

Something to keep in mind though. When I did the '00 my hatch started not opening all the time. My guess was that the new rubber stops were pushing it out a little more. A quick latch rod adjustment solved that problem but just something to keep in mind.
